The Paintings of Wang Aiying

The intricate paintings on rice paper depict figures that might have their guts inside out, but they are very psychedelic as well. The colors are insane.

Baddie Butcher Cuts

I hate those Cheep Cheeps…bet they’d taste delicious. Jude Buffum did a series for the upcoming Pixel Pushers show coming this Saturday, presented by Scion and Giant Robot.

I’m a sucker for a good song, motion graphics, and a beating anatomical heart. This has all three!

Brainstem in Michelangelo’s Neck?

Medical Illustrator Ian Suk (a former instructor of mine) and neurosurgeon Dr. Rafael J. Tamargo from Johns Hopkins published an interesting article in The Journal of Neurosurgery.

Their research postulates that Michelangelo painted part of the brain in God’s neck in “The Separation of Light From Darkness.” The response has run the gamut among the art historian community – some think it is intriguing, while others are outraged.

Here are two links regarding this story. What do you think? See for yourself!

X-Ray Pin-Up

Exactly what it says. Eizo, a medical supplies company, created a 2010 Pin-up calendar. It’s pretty clever. Aren’t skeletons sexy?

Last night I went to the opening night of the The Vader Project, and it was fantastic! Good crowd too. The show is in Los Angeles until June 20, before it heads off to Philadelphia at Freeman’s Auction House. Some of the great artists include: Bob Dob, Tim Biskup, Simone Legno, Plasticgod, Ron English, Jeff Soto, Shag, Gary Baseman, Mark Ecko, and many more. Check out the link for more information. Anatomy Pillow

Heather Lins’ store has these awesome eco-friendly pillows based off science figure illustrations. Besides the Anatomy pillow, there are also Botany and Geology pillows. Oh, the Eye Chart pillow looks pretty nice too. If only I had that much dough to throw around…(throw around, get it? Get it? Okay, lame joke).

April 2010 Wallpaper

To keep the computer screen nice and fresh, I like to change the wallpaper semi-frequently, if not monthly. I found this great skull wallpaper that also has this month’s calendar on it. Skulltastic and functional!
